Phillip L. Williams is graduate of Harvard College and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1948. After serving as a destroyer officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, he began his business career with the Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation. After serving in management positions in New York and California, including a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm, he joined The Times Mirror Company, from which he retired as Vice Chairman in 1993. Mr. Williams is currently a Director and President of the Foundation of the Los Angeles County Children's Planning Council. He chairs the Acme Network, a non-profit that provides on-air and online distance learning including Acme Animation supported professionally and financially by five major film studios and also Sci-Pi for mathematics and the sciences.
